Rocky 7 - Mojave Desert Field Experiments

Samples

Field samples were collected from Lavic Lake, the site of the May 1997 Rocky 7 field test, and Silver Lake, a proposed site for a spring 1998 Rocky 7 field test. These samples help to document the field test environment which Rocky 7 explores. Laboratory analyses are an integral part of cataloging the samples. Techniques such as Mössbauer and Raman spectroscopy will be conducted to better characterize the chemical properties of the specimens. During field exercises, rocks which have been analyzed by Rocky 7 are collected to undergo further laboratory analysis. Results are posted on this Web page. Below is a table listing each sample with its collection locality, date of acquisition and a brief description of the sample characteristics.
