Shortly into the first traverse the rover became stuck on a basalt rock.
The operators in the trailer attempted to diagnose the problem by taking
self-inspection stereo images of the rover's underside. These were of limited use since the self-inspection algorithm focuses the stereo cameras on the rover's wheels rather than orienting the cameras to see the rover's underside. The operators did determine that Rocky 7 was stuck on a rock and commanded the rover to try to back up off of the rock. This nearly succeeded, but rather than try this again and risk damaging the rover on the first day of testing, Rocky 7 was picked up and placed just in front of the rock. The traverse then
continued normally.
