Rocky 7 - Mojave Desert Field Experiments

Panoramic Images

To create a complete panoramic stereo image Rocky 7 takes 12 "wedge" images with two cameras mounted about 3 inches apart. The cameras are located on Rocky 7's mast which rotates 360 degrees during the imaging. Corrections are made to compensate for the vertical angle of the cameras relative to the axis of rotation to align the wedge images. These images are only roughly aligned. Rocky 7 takes several minutes to make a panoramic stereo image and has the ability to use red, green, and blue filters to create color images.
