LAPIS 3 Telecon
4/05/01
Attempted to start first WITS training but
many sites encountered technical difficulties so the training is postponed
until Monday, April 9 from 1-2 PDT. The
dial-in number is 1-800-367-5754, tone, 575, tone, 46873.
Ray explained that orbital data will be
posted a week before the field trials begin, but that LAPIS probably won’t need
them since their LAPIS mission is a physical properties experiment in which the
rover looks ahead a few meters for a clear patch of soil, goes to the patch and
digs and trench and then examines it with instrumentation.
Ray sent out an email with the April 11 tasks
(it will also be posted on the info exchange page). Please read it over before the Mars Yard test.
Action items:
--Send Cassie an email about when members of
your team will be dialed-in on April 11.
The tests will be from 9-12 and 1-4 PDT.
--We need design suggestions for the
t-shirts. Please send them to Cassie
and she will post them on the team site for discussion.
--Make sure Cassie has your team picture to
put on-line. If it is okay with your
school/parents, you can also send the team picture to the St. Louis team and
they will post it on the public site with first names only.
--Cassie will send FTP information to the
teams so they can access a journal article on FIDO to read and discuss with
team members/teacher/mentor.
