Report
Doppler data for locating rover will not be available
till Sol 9
High winds at DSN forced antenna to stow during part of
DTE so we didn't get engineering data; we did get IPS and Navcam data.
Expect UHF data as planned
Since we don't have info on rover state, engineering
wants to send commands to stow everythin to be sure everything is ok.
Therefor, we cannot drive today - We have no comfirmation of IDD stow,
no confirmation of mast stow. We can only use hazcams!
- Can we design a sequence assuming everything stowed, and then when UHF
arrives (with rover state engineering data) we could just transmit our
sequence if UHF shows rover is ok??? This is the plan for Sol 8: plan
optimisitically that UHF data will show sol 7 executed correctly. Make
sure remote sensing planning is extensive in case we do use mast but not
drive on Sol 8

SOWG Comments
IPS data sets 1-4 look OK, 5-7 look low signal,
8-13 are of marginal quality, 14 looks OK
Got 14 IPS spectra; first 3 spectra of Oatlands and
Woodstock ok; Stony Point is noisy and probably won't give good spectra.

- Want to get instrment spectrsocopy of soil
(unknown if our sol 7 observations executed to provide this)
- Sol tree says we can go spectroscopy on Sol 8, or Drive, or do remote
sensing. If we drive and Sol 7 spectroscopy was unsuccessful, can always
stop and do another soil spectroscopy sol. This has mission success
implications however

Sitting on a channel floor, variety
of clast : subrounded to rounded; colors: reddish brown,black, gray;
size range: fines to gravels with some small boulders in channel floor.
Rover tracks show up very faintly thus far due to mostly gravelly
material. Rover heading NNW toward Kaibab outcrop. Mudcracks and mud
scrolls visible indicative of recent water because the delicate nature
of scrolls are not destroyed. Sand ramps visible on slopes of mesas.
Horizontal layered rock (sedimentary, volcanic, other?) throughout site.

Tactical Operations Summary
Rover and Instrument Health Status Summary
Rover:
Rover status unknown, so we can do NOTHING until we get
UHF downlink with rover state information.
We could touch and go if we did not get IDD data but
IDD did stow properly
IPS electronics detectors are 55C, which is very high
Two groups are suggesting a drive to Kaibab, so that's
what we'll do.
We will not make this a spectroscopy sol if sol 7 IFF failed; to recover
possibly lost sol 7 spectroscopy data, we will do at most a touch and go
(APXS and MI slew) before traversing to Kaibab
What happens if we do not get IDD stow confirmation?
Radiated Sequence Summary
Sequence Execution Summary
Formal Debrief
- Mast stow command since telemetry indicated mast was unstowed. An arm
contingency was added here.
- Front hazcam
- Drive to Kaibab by going right of Woodstock and turning to Kaibab to
svoid a wash between site 2 and Kaibab with hazcam front and rear
- Faced Kaibab3 at end of traverse
- Special contingency sequence to avoid using mast
- Front and rear hazcam at end of traverse - No Navcam panorama
- Here\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s what got cut: all IPS and MT on Kaibab, Hawks
Nest; atm measurements cut; touch and go before traverse cut. These cut
because traverse took too much time.
